The Golden State Warriors lose Kwame Brown for the next three months

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to Step Up, Front Page, Injuries by alleyoop on Thursday 12 January 2012 at 4:21 pm

The Warriors will be without 29-year old center Kwame Brown at least the next three months due to torn pectoral muscles. He has played in 9 games (3 starts) for the Warriors this year and he is averaging 20.8 minutes, 6.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. 25-year old Andris Biedrins will get his starting job back. He has played in 6 games (all starts) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 13.8 minutes, 3.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, 0.5 assists and 1.5 blocked shots per game. The Warriors need Biedrins to get more physical around the basket as he has only attempted two free throws this year, missing both of them. 24-year old Ekpe Udoh will likely also see a bump in minutes for the Warriors going forward. Udoh has played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 16.1 minutes, 4.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. The Warriors have high hopes for Udoh.

The Golden State Warriors need more from their rookies

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 12 January 2012 at 3:50 pm

With the recent spat of injuries to the Warriors, they need some of their rookies to step up. 22-year old guard Charles Jenkins has replaced Stephen Curry in the starting lineup due to his ankle injury. Jenkins has played in 7 games (3 starts) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 7.4 minutes, 1.7 points, 0.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. The Warriors would like for 21-year old guard Klay Thompson to step up and replace Jenkins in the starting lineup, but he’s not playing well enough right now. Thompson has played in 9 games (1 start) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 17.7 minutes, 5.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. He is only shooting 38% from the floor so far this season and that’s just not good enough. 20-year old center Jeremy Tyler has only played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 1.8 minutes and 0.5 points per game. 23-year old forward Chris Wright has played in 3 games (0 starts) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 3.7 minutes, 1.3 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.

Monta Ellis is looking good for the Golden State Warriors so far this year

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 10 January 2012 at 2:26 pm

26-year old Monta Ellis has pretty much taken over the role as the point guard for the Warriors as the offense is running through him. He has played in 7 games (all starts) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 39.4 minutes, 24.1 points, 2.9 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game. With Stephen Curry down right now as his ankle is acting up, it’s important that Ellis remembers to keep the other players on the Warriors heavily involved in the offense.
