The Golden State Warriors will take the best big guy available tomorrow night

Blogged under General, The Draft Report, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 23 June 2010 at 2:39 pm

The Warriors have only one pick (#6) in the NBA Draft tomorrow night. They will likely use it on the best big man available which will likely either be Greg Monroe, DeMarcus Cousins or Cole Aldrich. The Warriors got beat up inside last season and that’s why they played so poorly. Injuries also really hurt the team in 2009-10. The Warriors will also likely dangle PF Anthony Randolph in trade talks to see if they can add some more picks tomorrow night. The Warriors are a team to keep your eyes on tomorrow night as they might make some deals.

The Golden State Warriors trade Corey Maggette to the Bucks

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 22 June 2010 at 5:48 pm

The Warriors have traded 30-year old SG/SF Corey Maggette and the 44th overall pick in the NBA Draft (2nd round) on Thursday Night to the Milwaukee Bucks for 31-year old SG Charlie Bell and 32-year old C Dan Gadzuric. Maggette played in 70 games (49 starts) for the Warriors last season and he averaged 29.7 minutes, 19.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. The Warriors will miss his offense a tad. Charlie Bell played in 71 games (39 starts) for the Bucks last season and he averaged 22.7 minutes, 6.5 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He has now played in 357 games (137 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 25.8 minutes, 8.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game. Gadzuric played in 32 games (6 starts) for the Bucks last season and he averaged 9.8 minutes, 2.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. He has now played in 483 games (155 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 15.1 minutes, 4.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. This trade looks like little more than a salary dump as Maggette will start for the Bucks while Bell and Gadzuric will be on the bench watching a lot of basketball.

The Golden State Warriors are shopping Anthony Randolph

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 7 June 2010 at 10:30 pm

The Warriors are shopping 20-year old power forward Anthony Randolph right now. He played in 33 games (8 starts) for the Warriors last season and he averaged 22.7 minutes, 11.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.5 blocked shots per game. Randolph has now played in 96 games (29 starts) in his two years with Golden State and he is averaging 19.6 minutes, 9.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game. The Timberwolves are apparently the leader in coming after Randolph as they have the 4th pick in the NBA Draft and they are likely trying to move either Al Jefferson or Kevin Love. If the Warriors can get Love or Jefferson and the 4th pick in the draft for Randolph and another player or pick they have to make that deal.

The Golden State Warriors will have some decisions to make this summer

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 29 May 2010 at 9:13 am

The Warriors have four restricted free agents and two restricted free agents heading into this summer. All four of the restricted free agents are likely going to get offers from other teams and I think the Warriors would be smart to match most if not all of them as they all contributed to the team last year. Anthony Morrow is going to be the player that would cost the Warriors the most money to bring back but he’s definitely worth it as he is a good fit in Don Nelson’s offense. Backup point guard C.J. Watson always plays well when he is on the court but with point guard being a weak free agent position he may get a offer they won’t match. F/C’s Anthony Tolliver and Chris Hunter both really got their first chances to show what they could do last season and they both looked solid. The Warriors will want to bring at least Tolliver back but they like Hunter as well. Devean George will likely leave but the Warriors won’t likely miss him too much. Vladimir Radmanovic has a early termination option but I don’t think he will take it as he didn’t show much last year.

The Golden State Warriors need Andris Biedrins to rebound in 2010-2011

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Need to Step Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 13 May 2010 at 2:13 pm

24-year old center Andris Biedrins is a legit center at 6′11″, 240 pounds and he brings the toughness the Warriors really lacked last season under the basket. Last season was a waste for him due to injuries and he also got into Don Nelson’s Dog House which is a bad combo for any player. Biedrins played in only 33 games (29 starts) for the Warriors last season and he averaged 23.1 minutes, 5.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game. The Warriors need a healthy and focused Biedrins if they are going to improve in 2010-11. He has played in 351 games (212 starts) in his career with the Warriors (6 years) in which he has averaged 24.1 minutes, 8.1 points, 8.2 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game. The Warriors could look to trade Biedrins over the summer but I think the smarter way to go is to just start him because they need his rebounding and defense.
