Stephen Curry is picking his game up in February for the Golden State Warriors

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 24 February 2010 at 10:16 pm

Stephen Curry has really stepped his game up in February. Curry has played in 10 games this month for the Warriors and he is averaging 38.4 minutes, 20.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Curry is making a late move for the Rookie of the Year Award with his main competition being Tyreke Evans of Sacramento. Curry has now played in 56 games (53 starts) for the Warriors this season and he is averaging 35.1 minutes, 15.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.8 steals per game. He is also a good shooter from everywhere on the court as he is hitting 45.8% from the floor, 40.7% from three point range and 87.3% from the free throw line this season. Curry and Monta Ellis give the Warriors one of the most exciting backcourts in the whole NBA.

Stephen Curry joined some elite company last night for the Golden State Warriors

With Monta Ellis out with a knee injury, Golden State Warriors’ rookie Stephen Curry had the best game of his short career in the Warriors 132-102 win over the Los Angeles Clippers last night.  Curry finished with a very impressive triple double, dropping in 36 points, 13 assists, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Curry became only the sixth rookie in NBA history to have a game with at least 35 points, 10 assists, and 10 rebounds.  He joined a list that includes Jason Kidd, Michael Jordan, Jerry West, Oscar Robinson, and Elgin Baylor.  Not too bad of company to be listed with.  Curry put on a great shooting performance and hit 11-22 shots from the field, including 7-11 threes and 7-8 from the free throw line.  Curry came out hot, hitting 5 threes in the first quarter and leading the Warriors to a 38-20 lead after the first quarter.  It’s good to see the rookie stepping up for the Warriors with their leading scorer out.  Ellis’ knee does not seem to be too serious, but while he is out the Warriors still have a guard they can rely on to score some points.  Curry continues to improve as his rookie season progresses, and it looks like February could be a great month for him.  After having two sub-par games to start the month, in the last three he is averaging 28.0 points, 8.7 assists, 4.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and has hit 29-57 from the field (51%) and 11-23 threes (48%).  You can watch Curry’s sweet stroke this weekend in the All-Star 3-Point Shootout, which I predict he will win.

Stephen Curry continues to improve for the Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warriors’ rookie Stephen Curry has been playing at a high level since day one, but he has been stepping his game up more and more as the season has progressed.  He is now the second best rookie in my opinion (behind only Tyreke Evans of the Kings) and his numbers keep getting better each month.  On the season he is averaging 14.2 points, 4.7 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 46% FG, 43% 3Pt.  Curry has improved his scoring average each month, averaging 9.8 points in November, 13.5 points in December, and 19.1 points in January.  Curry really played great in January, especially shooting the ball.  He shot 48% from the field and a red-hot 49% from three.  Curry has already proven he can be a star in this league after there were many doubters who said he was just a great college player and didn’t have the athleticism or size to play at an elite level in the NBA.  Unfortunately for the Warriors, Curry’s great play has not amounted to very many wins, going just 4-11 in January for an overall record of 13-33 this season.

Golden State Warriors’ rookie Stephen Curry has been on fire

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Rookie Reports, Steppin Up by Andrew on Thursday 14 January 2010 at 8:32 am

Stephen Curry’s shot struggled early this season as the young rookie was still adjusting to the pro game and it has been somewhat inconsistent throughout his rookie campaign.  Don’t get me wrong, Curry has still shot the ball decent, but with such a pretty stroke I expected him to light it up more.  Well, after being held scoreless against the Celtics on December 28th, Curry has been on fire the last six games.  On the season, Curry is averaging 12.5 points while shooting 46% from the field and 42% from three.  In his last six games he has averaged 16.5 points on 58% shooting, including 60% from three.  His field goal percentage has gone from 43% to 46% in just six games and his hot streak included a night against the Nuggets where he poured in 26 points on 10-13 shooting, including a perfect 6-6 behind the arc.  He also had 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals in that game, showing he can do more than just shoot.  Unfortunately the Warriors have only gone 2-4 during Curry’s current hot streak, but they have been close games against very tough competition like the Lakers, Cavaliers, Nuggets, and Trailblazers.  The Warriors should definitely look to get this guy some more shots, especially as it seems he is really starting to come into his own as of late.

Stephen Curry is playing well for the Golden State Warriors

SG/PG Stephen Curry is just starting to scratch the surface of his immense potential. He has played in 34 games (31 starts) for the Warriors this season and he is averaging 32.0 minutes, 12.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Curry is shooting 46% from the floor and 42.3% from three point range so far this season. Look for Curry to really excel when the Warriors eventually move guys like Monta Ellis and Corey Maggette because he will get more shots.
