The Golden State Warriors send Jeremy Lin to the D-League

Blogged under Comings & Goings, General, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 28 December 2010 at 2:40 pm

The Golden State Warriors have sent 22-year old rookie point guard Jeremy Lin to the Reno Bighorns of the D-League in order to get him some P.T. Lin has played in 17 games (0 starts) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 8.5 minutes, 1.9 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He is only shooting 31.6% (12 of 38) from the floor so far this year so that also had to do somewhat with his demotion. He will need to play well in the D-League to get another shot with the Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors aren’t getting much from their rookies….yet

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Tuesday 21 December 2010 at 6:56 pm

23-year old power forward/center Ekpe Udoh got off to a late start for the Warriors due to wrist surgery. He has played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 8.3 minutes, 1.8 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game. Udoh is going to start getting more P.T. soon and he will help the team with toughness, defense and rebounding off the bench. 22-year old point guard Jeremy Lin is off to a rough start to his NBA career. Lin has played in 17 games (0 starts) in which he is averaging 8.5 minutes, 1.9 points, 0.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game. Lin is only shooting 31.6% from the floor and 69% from the free throw line this year. Lin better shape up soon because rumors have him getting demoted to the D-League soon if he doesn’t start to pick things up.

The Golden State Warriors release Jeff Adrien

Blogged under Comings & Goings, General, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 9 December 2010 at 9:54 pm

The Warriors have released 24-year old rookie forward Jeff Adrien. Adrien played in 15 games (0 starts) for the Warriors this year and he averaged 10.8 minutes, 2.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game. Adrien had to go so that the Warriors could sign Acie Law. Don’t be surprised to see Adrien surface with another team as he didn’t play that bad for the Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors have not had much time for rookies

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 18 November 2010 at 4:55 pm

The Warriors don’t have much P.T. available for their rookies this year unless the team suffers a lot of injuries. 22-year old point guard Jeremy Lin has played in 6 games (0 starts) for the Warriors this year and he is averaging 8.8 minutes, 1.2 points, 0.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game. With the depth the Warriors have at point guard, Lin isn’t going to get much P.T. this year. 24-year old forward Jeff Adrien has played in 5 games (0 starts) this year for the Warriors and he is averaging 9.2 minutes, 2.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.

Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry was the best rookie down the stretch, but came up short in the ROY Award

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Rookie Reports by Andrew on Thursday 29 April 2010 at 7:52 pm

Golden State Warriors’ rookie Stephen Curry really came into his own in the final months of the season, but it was not enough to win the Rookie of the Year Award over the Sacramento Kings’ star rookie Tyreke Evans.  Curry really played well down the final stretch of the season, as he averaged 19.8 points, 7.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.8 steals in the month of March.  In April he really poured it on, averaging 26.4 points, 8.1 assists, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.6 steals. Curry was definitely the more exciting player to watch and was a much better shooter, put Evans’ put together a great full season and his overall numbers were better than Curry’s, so he deserved the Rookie of the Year Award.  Curry’s final season averages came to 17.5 points, 5.9 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.9 steals.  Evans averages were 20.1 points, 5.8 assists, 5.3 rebounds, and 1.5 steals.  They both shot about 46% from the field, so overall their numbers were similar, but Evans was putting up those numbers from day one.  It took Curry about two months to get used to the NBA game.  Curry is by far the better shooter though, as he shot a blazing 43% from three, and Evans hasn’t really developed much of a three-point shot, hitting only 26% of his threes.  Although I think both have room for improvement, I think Curry has a higher upside down the line.  Evans won’t be able to put very much more on his 6′6″ 220 lbs. frame, but Curry can still add 20 lbs. of muscle to his wiry 6′3″, 185 lbs. frame.  That, along with his great outside shooting, has me thinking that Curry will end up as the better player when it is all said and done.  Either way, both of these guys are going to have great NBA careers.
