The Warriors have acquired 26-year old shooting guard Brandon Rush from the Indiana Pacers for 29-year old power forwad Louis Amundson. Rush played in 67 games (21 starts) for the Pacers last year and he averaged 26.2 minutes, 9.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He has now played in 224 games (104 starts) in his first three years in the NBA and he is averaging 27.0 minutes, 8.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Rush is a good outside shooter as he has nailed 40.2% of his shots from three point range so far in his NBA career. He will likely be the first guard off the bench for the Warriors this year. Amundson played in 46 games (7 starts) last season in his only year with the Warriors, and he averaged 15.0 minutes, 4.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.

The Golden State Warriors claim point guard Ishmael Smith off waivers

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 16 December 2011 at 5:06 pm

The Warriors have claimed 23-year old point guard Ishmael Smith off waivers from the Rockets. Smith played in 43 games (3 starts) last year for the Rockets & Grizzlies and he averaged 10.3 minutes, 2.3 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. He only shot 37.4% from the floor last year and that will need to improve before he gets consistent minutes for the Warriors. This was a nice pickup for the Warriors as Smith will be thrown into the mix at point guard in 2011-12, as a backup.
