The Golden State Warriors waive Jeff Adrien

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 30 June 2011 at 1:45 pm

The Warriors have waived 25-year old forward Jeff Adrien. Adrien played in 23 games (0 starts) as a rookie for the Warriors last year and he averaged 8.5 minutes, 2.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Adrien will likely hook on with another team whenever the lockout is lifted but the Warriors shouldn’t miss him too much if at all.

The Golden State Warriors picked Charles Jenkins in the 2nd round of the 2011 NBA Draft

The Warriors picked 22-year old, 6′3″, 220 pound combo guard Charles Jenkins with the 44th overall pick of the 2011 NBA Draft. Jenkins played in 33 games for Hofstra last year and he averaged 37.3 minutes, 22.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Jenkins played in 128 games in his four years in college and he averaged 35.9 minutes, 19.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.7 steals per game. Jenkins gives the Warriors another good offensive player to develop.

The Golden State Warriors bought Jeremy Tyler from the Bobcats

Blogged under Comings & Goings, General, The Draft Report, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 25 June 2011 at 8:57 am

The Charlotte Bobcats took 20-year old, 6′10″, 255 pound PF/C Jeremy Tyler with the #39 overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. The Bobcats then sold Tyler to the Warriors for some cold, hard cash. Jeremy Tyler played 33 games for a team in Japan last year and he averaged 15.4 minutes, 9.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. Tyler played two years of professional basketball in Israel and Japan, appearing in 43 games in which he averaged 13.6 minutes, 8.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. The Warriors were looking for a big guy to bang inside in the paint and they might have found one in Tyler.

The Golden State Warriors took Klay Thompson in the first round of the 2011 NBA Draft

Blogged under Comings & Goings, General, The Draft Report, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Front Page by alleyoop on Saturday 25 June 2011 at 8:52 am

The Golden State Warriors took 21-year old, 6′6″, 202 pound shooting guard Klay Thompson with the 11th overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft. Thompson played in 34 games at Washington State last year and he averaged 34.7 minutes, 21.6 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Thompson played in 98 games in his three years in college and he averaged 34.4 minutes, 17.9 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 steals per game. This was an excellent pick for the Warriors as Thompson will likely be the first guard off the bench for the Warriors this year (unless Monta Ellis is dealt) and a starter down the road for them. He was one of the best offensive players in this draft.

The Golden State Warriors have a couple picks in the NBA Draft on Thursday

Blogged under General, The Draft Report, Bloglockers, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 20 June 2011 at 12:11 pm

The Golden State Warriors currently have the #11 and #44 overall picks in the NBA Draft. They could add to that if they decide to deal Monta Ellis as has been rumored. With that in mind the Warriors come into this draft looking for a SG or a C. I don’t think a good option at center will be there at #11. But, SG Klay Thompson of Washington will likely be there and if he is, I think the Warriors will take him. With the #44 overall pick, I look for the Warriors to draft the best big man left on the board.
