The Warriors outscored the T-Wolves 34-22 in the 4th quarter to make a game of it before falling a little bit short. Stephen Curry (33 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals) and Dorell Wright (26 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots) led the way for the Warriors last night. David Lee (20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 1 steal) and Monta Ellis (20 points, 5 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals) also had very good games for the Warriors last night. Vladimir Radmanovic even pitched in with 12 points in 18 minutes off the bench. The Warriors are now 26-32 on the year.

Monta Ellis continues to play strong basketball for the Golden State Warriors

25-year old shooting guard Monta Ellis has played well in February for the Warriors which should come as no surprise. Ellis has played in 10 games for the Warriors so far this month and he is averaging 40.0 minutes, 24.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.1 steals per game. He has now played in 57 games (all starts) for the Warriors so far this year and he is averaging 40.9 minutes, 25.0 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.2 steals per game. Ellis is by far the best all-around player the Warriors have and they would be smart to watch his minutes a little more if possible, because they have no chance of making the playoffs without him.

Atlanta Hawks 95, Golden State Warriors 79

The Warriors shot 37.1% from the floor and they were outrebounded 49-34 last night as they never had a chance. The Warriors were down 81-55 after the first 3 quarters as they really came out flat in this game. David Lee led the way for the Warriors last night with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Monta Ellis only shot 7 of 21 from the floor but he still finished up with 16 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. Reggie Williams played 23 minutes off the bench for the Warriors last night and he had 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists while only shooting 3 of 11 from the floor. The Warriors are now 26-31 on the year.

The Golden State Warriors acquire Troy Murphy from the Nets

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Warriors News, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 23 February 2011 at 11:46 pm

The Golden State Warriors have acquired 30-year old power forward Troy Murphy and a 2nd round pick in 2012 from the New Jersey Nets for 33-year old center Dan Gadzuric and 23-year old forward Brandan Wright. Murphy played his first six seasons with the Warriors. Murphy played in 18 games (4 starts) for the Nets this season and he averaged 16.0 minutes, 3.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He was having big time shooting issues in New Jersey this year as he only hit 34.2% from the floor, 17.4% from three point range and 52.9% from the free throw line so far this year. I think a change of scenery is going to help Murphy big time. He has now played in 639 games (480 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 29.0 minutes, 11.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Rumors abound that the Warriors are going to buy him out and make him a free agent, but I think they should keep him for a little while and see if he has anything left in the gas tank before cutting him loose. Dan Gadzuric played in 28 games (4 starts) for the Warriors this season and he averaged 10.6 minutes, 2.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. The Warriors won’t miss him one bit. Brandan Wright played in 21 games (1 start) for the Warriors this year and he averaged 9.3 minutes, 4.0 points, 2.0 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game. In his three years with the Warriors, Wright played in 98 games (30 starts) in which he averaged 12.8 minutes, 5.7 points, 3.1 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. The Warriors might have given up on Wright a little bit too soon.

UPDATE: (2/27/2011) - The Warriors have bought out Troy Murphy. Count me as one person who thought they should have kept him to give them rebounding off the bench.

David Lee only shot 5 of 14 from the floor but he still finished up with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals and 1 blocked shot.
