The Warriors shot 53.1% from the floor and they held the Clippers to 38.6% shooting which explains the blowout. Dorell Wright led the way for the Warriors in this game with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Stephen Curry (16 points, 2 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals), Monta Ellis (15 points, 3 rebounds, 11 assists and 1 blocked shot) and David Lee (15 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists) also helped out on offense last night. The Warriors are now 2-0 on the year.

The Warriors turned up the speed last night as they were running up and down the court often getting easy baskets because of it. The Warriors shot 55.4% from the floor last night as they were outstanding. Monta Ellis was absolutely on fire last night as he finished up with 46 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals on 18 of 24 shooting from the floor. The over/under for Golden State Warriors wins in 2010-11 is 30.5

The Warriors were only 26-56 last season as they seemed to be going through the motions. They have forced Don Nelson into retirement, replacing him with Keith Smart. Adding David Lee to Stephen Curry & Monta Ellis gives the Warriors a damn good top three. If Andris Biedrins can stay healthy and the Warriors get production out of the small forwards they will be a surprise team out West. I would take the over on wins for the Warriors in 2010-11. The Warriors are also 175-1 to win the NBA Championship but I wouldn’t touch that with a 10-foot pole.

Keith Smart gets to run the show for the Golden State Warriors

Don Nelson “resigned” recently allowing the Warriors to hire Keith Smart. The 46-year old Smart led the Cavaliers to a 9-31 (22.5%) record in his first experience as a NBA coach. Now he gets to replace the all time leader in wins in NBA history as a NBA head coach. I think getting David Lee in a trade with the Knicks is going to make the Warriors a downright deadly team for opponents to deal with this year. While I don’t think the Warriors are going to make the playoffs, I think Smart is going to do a good job coaching them up.

Andris Biedrins is a big key for the Golden State Warriors in 2010-11

24-year old center Andris Biedrins had a lost year due to injury last season. He played in 33 games (29 starts) for the Warriors last year and he averaged 23.1 minutes, 5.0 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. Biedrins also only hit 4 of 25 free throws (16%) last year for the Warriors! Biedrins has now played in 351 games (212 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 24.1 minutes, 8.1 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game. Biedrins needs to get back to being aggressive on the boards and on defense because having David Lee team with him in the paint gives the Warriors a chance to be a much better team in 2010-11.

32-year old Dan Gadzuric will be Biedrins’ back up this year. He played in 32 games (6 starts) for the Bucks last season and he averaged 9.8 minutes, 2.8 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. Gadzuric has now played in 483 games (155 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 15.1 minutes, 4.9 points, 4.5 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game.
