The Golden State Warriors are missing the boat

The Warriors are having big problems with defense and rebounding, yet the best player in both of those areas on the roster is only playing about half the game. Center Andris Biedrins is the cure to what ails the Warriors. He has played in 21 games (17 starts) for the Warriors so far this season and he is averaging 23.9 minutes, 5.7 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.5 blocked shots per game. He is also shooting 61.5% from the floor. To be fair most of his shots are the results of putbacks and dunks but that doesn’t take away from the fact that he gives the Warriors a presence in the paint when he is on the floor. He should be playing 30-35 minutes per game as long as he is healthy, period.

Stephen Curry continues to improve for the Golden State Warriors

Golden State Warriors’ rookie Stephen Curry has been playing at a high level since day one, but he has been stepping his game up more and more as the season has progressed.  He is now the second best rookie in my opinion (behind only Tyreke Evans of the Kings) and his numbers keep getting better each month.  On the season he is averaging 14.2 points, 4.7 assists, 3.9 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 46% FG, 43% 3Pt.  Curry has improved his scoring average each month, averaging 9.8 points in November, 13.5 points in December, and 19.1 points in January.  Curry really played great in January, especially shooting the ball.  He shot 48% from the field and a red-hot 49% from three.  Curry has already proven he can be a star in this league after there were many doubters who said he was just a great college player and didn’t have the athleticism or size to play at an elite level in the NBA.  Unfortunately for the Warriors, Curry’s great play has not amounted to very many wins, going just 4-11 in January for an overall record of 13-33 this season.
