1. (7) Stephen Curry, PG/SG

The Warriors were ecstatic to see Stephen Curry drop to them with the 7th pick of the NBA Draft. Curry played in 104 games in three seasons at Davidson and he averaged 25.3 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game. Curry is a outstanding shooter for anywhere on the court as he nailed 46.7% from the floor, 87.6% from the free throw line and 44.2% from three point range. Curry should be able to replace the offense that the Warriors gave up in Jamal Crawford earlier in the week. Curry is the best offensive player in this draft and he should fit in very well on the run and gun Warriors.

The Golden State Warriors trade Jamal Crawford to the Hawks

The Golden State Warriors have traded 29-year old point guard Jamal Crawford to the Atlanta Hawks for 31-year old point guard Speedy Claxton and 24-year old point guard Acie Law. Crawford’s days in Oakland were numbered when he started to rub Warriors’ head coach Don Nelson the wrong way. Crawford played in 54 games (all starts) for the Warriors last season and he averaged 38.6 minutes, 19.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. Despite all of the headaches Crawford gave Nelson last season he’s still vastly superior to anything the Warriors got in return for him.

Speedy Claxton played in only 2 games (0 starts) for the Hawks last season and he averaged 7.5 minutes, 2.5 points and 1.5 assists per game. He has now played in 334 games (128 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 25.6 minutes, 9.3 points, 2.5 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game. 24-year old Acie Law was a former first round pick of the Hawks but he has never played like one. He played in 55 games (1 start) for the Hawks last season and he averaged 10.2 minutes, 2.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Law has now played in 111 games (7 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 12.8 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.8 assists per game. This was a pure salary dump trade for the Warriors as neither Law or Claxton will likely help the Warriors much.
