The rookies on the Golden State Warriors aren’t getting much playing time

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page, Uncategorized by alleyoop on Thursday 27 December 2007 at 1:34 pm

First round picks Brandan Wright and Marco Belinelli haven’t got onto the floor much for the Warriors and F/C Kosta Perovic hasn’t played at all. Wright has played in 11 games so far this season for the Warriors and he is averaging 2.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. He is shooting 41.4% from the floor but only 50% from the free throw line so far. If he improves on his shooting his playing time will increase as he definately has the athletic ability to excel in the Warriors offense. Marco Belinelli is having a rough adjustment to the NBA and the Warriors style of play. Belinelli is only shooting 23.9% from the floor, 29.2% from the three point line and 66.7% from the free throw line. He has played in 15 games this season and he is averaging 8.5minutes, 2.1 points, 0.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. If he doesn’t start shooting better his butt will be nailed to the bench.

The Warriors have to be very pleased with the play of center Andris Biedrins in December. Biedrins has played in 5 games (4 starts) this month and he is averaging 23.0 minutes, 11.6 points, 10.8 rebounds, 0.8 assists and 1.0 block per game. Biedrins is also shooting an amazing 65.8% from the floor this month. Biedrins is the best center in the NBA that no one talks about as he’s very skilled.

The Warriors have been outstanding lately and that’s the reason they have surged into 3rd place in the Pacific Division with a 11-9 record which has them 4 games behind the Suns. The Warriors are tied with the Suns leading the league in scoring as they are averaging 110.4 points per game. They have to score because the defense is pretty awful as they are allowing 108.2 points per game.

The Golden State Warriors catch fire with Stephen Jackson back

Blogged under Bloglockers, Steppin Up, Front Page by alleyoop on Wednesday 5 December 2007 at 6:10 pm

The Warriors went on a 9-game winning streak as soon as Stephen Jackson returned from suspension. He has played in 9 games this season and he has averaged 40.3 minutes, 21.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Jackson brings the energy to the court that the rest of the Warriors feed off of. Look for the Warriors to keep winning now that everyone is healthy and ready to go.
