Baron Davis was outstanding this season for the Golden State Warriors

Baron Davis had one of his best seasons ever when he was on the court. He only played in 63 games as he was a little bit dinged up during the season, but he still averaged 35.3 minutes, 20.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 8.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game. His shooting was a tad better than his career norms as he hit 43.9% from the floor and 74.5% from the free throw line. He only hit 30.4% of his three-point shots during the regular season. Look for Davis to continue being an excellent player for the Warriors as he’s the perfect point guard to run Don Nelson’s offense.

Almost all of Baron Davis’ career numbers went up because of his outstanding season. In 526 games, Davis has averaged 34.9 minutes, 16.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 7.2 assists and 1.9 steals per game. His shooting %’s over his career are not that pretty as he’s only hit 41.1% from the floor, 32.4% from 3-point range and 68.1% from the free throw line. Still, he’s an excellent player for the Warriors style and his career numbers should continue to improve.

The Warriors played pretty good in the first half but they ran out of gas as the Jazz outscored them 48-33 in the second half. The Warriors only shot 36.4% from the floor and they were outrebounded 59-35 and it’s very hard to win that way. Baron Davis led the way for the Warriors with 21 points, 2 rebounds, 8 assists and 6 steals. Stephen Jackson was only 3 for 17 shooting, but he still finished up with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. Matt Barnes had a solid game off of the bench with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Jason Richardson (13 points, 8 rebounds) and Monta Ellis (12 points, 3 rebounds) both played pretty decent last night. The Warriors season is now over after the Jazz beat them 4 games to 1.

The Warriors played a decent game for the first three quarters last night, but then the Jazz took over as they outscored them 40-23 in the 4th quarter. The Warriors didn’t play any defense as they allowed the Jazz to shoot 51.4% from the floor and the Jazz outrebounded the Warriors 52-36……and it’s hard to win basketball games that way. Al Harrington led the way for the Warriors with 24 points and 3 rebounds until he fouled out after only 31 minutes. Stephen Jackson had a rough shooting night (5 for 15) and he finished with 24 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists. Baron Davis was solid with 15 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Monta Ellis was also solid with 15 points and 3 rebounds. Andris Biedrins was active around the basket with 7 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Jason Richardson had an awful shooting game (3 of 12) and he wound up with 7 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. The Warriors are now down 3-1 to the Jazz in this series.

The Warriors gave the Jazz all they could handle and more as they took them into overtime before fading. The Warriors were outscored 14-4 in OT and they were outrebounded 60-32 and that’s no way to win a basketball game. Baron Davis was outstanding again as he led the way for the Warriors with 36 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Jason Richardson was also very good last night with 27 points and 4 rebounds. Stephen Jackson was laying a lot of bricks last night as he was 4 for 18 from the floor. Jackson still finished with 18 points and 3 rebounds. Al Harrington had a good game off of the bench with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Matt Barnes was active again with 12 points and 7 rebounds. The Warriors are now down 2-0 in the series against the Jazz as the series shifts to the Oracle Arena.Â
